How to choose your concealer?
Should you buy lighter or darker tone?
What about those under-eye circles or pimples on the cheeks?
Here's a little guide on how to pick the right shades of concealer for your skin tone.
Select a concealer most appropriate for the area you wish to cover.
A creamier version is recommended for the delicate under-eye area, while a drier formula is better suited to other facial skin.
If you are covering major undereye circles, you need a concealer that provides major coverage. You can check out the coverage by dabbing the concealer on the blue veins on the inside of your wrist.
According to the package info on Avene Couvrance concealer stick:
- green neutralises red so green-toned concealer is for use on pimples (red-toned imperfections)
- yellow neutralises blue so yellow-toned concealer is for use on under-eyed circles.
Yellow-toned products are your best bet for covering up under-eye circles.
Orange-based tones blend best into dark or black skin.
You want a shade or two lighter than your foundation
*Remember, your foundation should match your skin almost exactly.
Test color on the area of your neck below your ear. The color should be 2 shades lighter than your foundation. Remember that the idea is to make a darker spot blend into your complexion. If you go too light, you risk looking like a raccoon.
Concealer is a definite "try before you buy" product.
